Family Ministry
“And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7
The Bible teaches clearly that it is the parent’s responsibility to train their children. As a church, we desire to guide, help, and equip parents in this endeavor. At a set time each week, we have family devotions in the homes of different families in our church. Many of the parents have not grown up in a Christian home and have not followed the Lord very long. We would desire to help them in establishing a strong Christian home so their children can learn more about Christ.
During family devotions we teach memory verses, sing songs, read a biography of a Christian man or woman, have a Bible quiz, teach a Bible lesson, and have a time of prayer. We try to involve the parents and children as much as possible. We have seen families become closer and have more of a desire to know the Bible. Our prayer is that the children would understand how to have a Christian home so they may teach their children in the way they ought to go.
